SHOULD PORT ROYAL BE RANKED ALONGSIDE THE PYRAMIDS OF EGYPT?

A UNESCO World Heritage Site is a place (such as a forest, mountain, lake, island, desertmonument, building, complex, or city) that is listed by United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) as of special cultural or physical significance. The list is maintained by the international World Heritage Programme administered by the UNESCO World Heritage Committee. They include such examples as the the great pyramids of Giza in Egypt, the historic centre of Rome, the city of Persepolis in Iran (former Persia) and the temple of Angkor Wat. Some believe that the historic city of Port Royal in Jamaica should be added to this list. Its historical significance in Pirate folklore which eventually may have led to its demise is very colourfully outlined by this excellent BBC article.
